THE DESIGNER
Growing up in Brazil, fashion was always part of my world. My family's t-shirt factory was where I first discovered how a simple piece of fabric could become something people loved to wear. It sparked a lifelong appreciation for thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and the care behind every garment.
In 2017, I moved to Australia and later studied Fashion Design and Technology at RMIT. After graduating, I spent several years working behind the scenes with Australian fashion brands, specialising in garment development, fit, and construction. Every collection taught me more about how clothing should not only look beautiful but also fit beautifully and last beyond a single season.
Throughout my career, I noticed the same gap. Too often, women were asked to choose between style and comfort. I wanted clothing that offered both pieces that felt effortless to wear, moved naturally with the body, and could take you from work to dinner, weekdays to weekends, without compromising on quality or confidence

So in 2023, she created Smelan. A brand built on a simple idea:
Clothing should adapt to your life and move with you.
Considered pieces designed to be worn more than once. Soft, breathable fabrics. Adjustable details that move with your body. Because women’s bodies change throughout the day, and what we wear should move with us, not work against us.
Smelan is about more than fashion it’s about giving back. A portion of Smelan’s profits is donated to support children in need, creating a brand that not only empowers women but also makes a positive difference in the world.
