THE DESIGNER
Renata Smelan was born and raised in Brazil, where her love for fashion began in her family’s t-shirt factory. Surrounded by fabrics and creativity, she grew up with a natural passion for design.
In 2017, she moved to Australia with her partner and studied Fashion Design and Technology at RMIT. After graduating, Renata worked with several well-known fashion brands, refining her technical skills and deepening her understanding of product, fit, and quality.
But something was missing. She found herself searching for pieces that didn’t exist clothing that felt as good as it looked. Pieces that could move through the day. From work to dinner. From everyday moments to something more.

So in 2023, she created Smelan. A brand built on a simple idea:
Clothing should adapt to your life and move with you.
Considered pieces designed to be worn more than once. Soft, breathable fabrics. Adjustable details that move with your body. Because women’s bodies change throughout the day, and what we wear should move with us, not work against us.
